You have just purchased your new wooden barrel. By purchasing the barrel, you leave the outer gelatin until the barrel is used. 12-15 days before filling the barrel with wine, you should follow these steps:

After purchasing the barrel, leave the outer gelatin until it is used. 15 days before filling the barrel with wine, we unwrap the barrel from the gelatin.

We place it in a horizontal position and remove the stopper and cork.

Wet the barrel on all surfaces, so that it "waters" the wood. We will find that there are leaks from various points for a few days. For this reason, we regularly empty the barrel. It is very important to leave the barrel full of water for 15 days, so that the humidity of the wood reaches 70-80%. After the barrel has "sealed", we empty the water and let it drain with the hole facing down for 5 minutes.
